A pore is any opening on the skin’s surface. These openings are how your skin releases oils, perspiration and toxins from the body through the sebaceous glands. Pores can easy become clogged by dead cells and debris if not cleansed regularly. The clinical name for a clogged pore is “come-done”.
Enlarged Pores
Our body creates thousands of new cells every 28 days, replacing your old cells with fresh new ones.  This is known as “Cell Turnover”.  Sometimes, your cells cannot remove the dead cells in time before the new cells come, thus, creating blockage to the pores. After the pore is clogged, a build up of sebum under the skin is the result. Clogged pores can be caused by inherited genes, hormonal changes (puberty or menopause), or environmental stress such as heat that cause the body to create more oil than normal. This creates enlarged more visible pores.
Symptoms of clogged pores include: • Blackheads : partially clogged pores
• Whiteheads : completely clogged pores
• Pimples : red bumps and inflammation of the pores and on the skin.
Ways to minimize pores We cannot control the size of the pores we were born with, but we can minimize the appearance of them temporarily. Not cleansing pores on a regular basis can cause them to appear larger than they really are, and can lead to blackheads, whiteheads, and pimples. In order to achieve the maximum results and a healthy looking glow, you need to remove the dead cells from your skin. An exfoliant with soft beads can effectively remove the dead cells and impurities without causing harm to the new cells. Exfoliating should be done 2 – 3 times a week after removing makeup and gentle cleansing.
Other pore minimizing tips:
pat a cold wash cloth, or cold compress on face on hot days
Use a face toner daily (after cleansing)
Avoid picking and squeezing pimples and blackheads as this can stretch the pores

What is Hyperpigmentation
Hyperpigmentation is defined as the increase in the natural color of the skin. Melanin, is a brown pigment created by certain cells in your skin, it is responsible for skin color. Melanin production is stimulated by a hormone called “melanocyte stimulating hormone”. Hyperpigmentation is the excess of melanin in certain areas of your skin.
What causes it?
Darkened areas of the skin occur as a result of many different reasons.
* Sunlight : Tanning when the skin is sensitive to sunlight, or prolonged exposure without protection can create uneven skin tone, freckles and sun spots.
* Medications: Birth control pills, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, and pain relievers, among others are common drugs responsible for hyperpigmentation.
* Hormones: Melasma (dark pigmentation of the skin) also called “the mask of pregnancy”,  is marked by brown to gray-brown patches on the face that are caused by the female hormone estrogen,  typically because of hormonal changes do to pregnancy.  
* Other reasons: Birth defects, genetics (it is hereditary), scarring, vitamin and nutritional deficiencies are also among causes.
Treatment Options
